The Life of Fifth Officer Harold Lowe
by Inger Sheil

This is a fascinating book about Welshman Harold Lowe, Fifth Officer on the RMS Titanic on her first, and tragically her only voyage. Seen by many as one of the heroes of the disaster, for his work in marshalling the lifeboats, distributing passengers between them and searching for survivors, this work also covers Lowe’s career before and after the loss of Titanic. Lowe’s career began with him running off to sea, but after the Titanic loss he also saw service as an RNR officer in Siberia during the Russian revolution.
