I QUITE ENJOYED BRIAN COOIL’S ARTICLE ‘F is for Funnel’ in the March 2010 issue of Sea Breezes. His parting remark was “Didn’t some ships going up the Manchester Ship Canal leave their funnel tops at the beginning of the canal?”

WITH REFERENCE TO THE ARTICLE IN THE JUNE 2010 Sea Breezes, ‘Abandoned Whalers Salvaged at South Georgia’, the company I worked for before retiring, Seabulk Offshore SA, had one AHTS vessel, Seabulk Condor, stationed in the Falkland Islands on charter to the MoD. At least once a year the vessel would visit South Georgia with supplies etc and various Masters and officers sent me photos of their voyages.![]()
