A welcome and regular visitor to Dover recently has been the fine looking Disney Magic. Although the vessel was built twelve years ago this is the first time that Disney has operated a cruise programme from the UK.

This is part of an extended season of special Mediterranean and Northern Europe itineraries and reflects Disney’s global expansion in the family cruising market.

Stena Bulk followed its recent order at Samsung Shipyard for six in-house designed Sueymax tankers for delivery in 2011/2012 by placing an order for another Suezmax tanker - the seventh in the series.

The vessels have been designed by Stena’s own design department in accordance with the most advanced technology available today.

When in the great city of London I can never resist being drawn down to the Embankment and looking out over the Thames. There are magnificent, iconic buildings on both sides, but what really captivates me is the river, its traffic and its permanent river bound lodgers.

When the beautiful QE2 was sold by Cunard to her new owners in Dubai at a price thought to be around $100 million, there were wonderful plans to convert this iconic vessel into a hotel. That, however, was before the financial woes hit economies across the world, but which impacted particularly negatively on Dubai.
