Nine different colours of cloudlike smoke were used as a backdrop when Cloud 9, the brand new 74 metre superyacht was launched on schedule in the Ancona yard operated by CRN.
In a launching ceremony, the likes of which are now only ever experienced in Italy, this event was a highlight of the three year build process that had been started by her Australian owner when he began to tire of his first yacht also called Cloud 9. The custom built superyacht is the result of a close combination between Italian engineering and British interior design.
The Italian design dynasty Zuccon International Project worked on designs with the London based Winch Design. It was Winch that created the exterior guest areas, livery and interior decoration that resulted in excess of over 1,000 m2 of deck space. Zuccon International Project worked on the technical aspects of the project assisting the yards engineering team.
The design demonstrates an optimised balance between interior and exterior spaces, with impressive volume and a high degree of comfort along with a free flowing layout for a relaxed indoor-outdoor living environment. Distinctive open-air areas such as the private deck forward of the master suite and the large beach club with extended platform at sea level have been conceived to offer maximum scope for alfresco enjoyment.
Cloud 9’s lines are enhanced by subtle superstructure design details and elegant aesthetics of all her guest areas. With a beam of 13.5 metres and five expansive decks plus a sub deck, the yacht comfortably accommodates up to 16 guests (12 when chartering) in a master suite, VIP suite and six guest cabins, in addition to 22 crew who occupy 13 cabins plus extra berths for four members of the owner staff in another two separate cabins.
The vessel is powered by two Caterpillar 3516C that develop 2,000 kW at1600 rpm engines, giving her a maximum speed of 16.5 knots and a cruising speed of around 15 knots.
