The Dutch 27.7m steel ketch Gallant, was built as a ‘logger’ in 1916 for the North Sea herring fishery.
She was sold to Danish owners who converted her for cargo carrying. In 1987, she was bought by Dutch owners, taken back to The Netherlands and converted to passenger carrying.
Since then, she has been one of the few Dutch passenger craft that visits British ports fairly regularly.
One voyage will be to Iceland, and on to Greenland and Scorsby Sound and another from Iceland to Jan Meyen Island and then Spitsbergen.
