The wooden barque, Earl of Pembroke of Bristol, was one of the star attractions at the Great Yarmouth Maritime Festival in September 10-11.
It is good to see her without red sails.
She was built in Sweden in 1945 as the motor schooner Orion for the Baltic timber trade. In 1979, Robin and Tony Davies bought the Orion and took her to Colchester. In 1985, they gained film work to fit her out as the barque Earl of Pembroke.
Tony Davies went to New Zealand with the brigantine Eye of the Wind while Robin Davies’ Square Sail was based at Bristol and then Charlestown until he retired.
