The Hamburg-based Rickmers Group has taken delivery of the “Rickmers Masan”, 30,000dwt, its 10th multi-purpose carrier (MPC).
Built at the Jingling yard in China, is the first in a series of four Superflex Heavy MPC vessels being long-term chartered to Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) for eight years for a new HMM service linking the Far East with the Middle East. On delivery, the ship was named “Rickmers Masan” and then renamed “Hyundai Masan”.
She is similar to the line’s Hamburg class ships used on the Round-The-World Pearl String Service and has two 320-tonne cranes capable of twinning for a maximum load of 640 tonnes. The “Hyundai Masan” is seen loading in Shanghai for her maiden voyage.
