Cardiff was the inaugural UK port of call of the Silverseas Cruises’ new flagship “Silver Spirit”, 36,000gt, on May 5.
The Lord Mayor of Cardiff, Councillor Brian Griffiths, presented a plaque to the Master, Captain Angelo A Corsaro, as a memento of the cruise ship’s first visit to Cardiff.
After a successful four-month inaugural voyage, the “Silver Spirit” made her first trans-Atlantic voyage from New York, calling first at Ringaskiddy in Ireland, before heading to three of Associated British Port’s ports.
After her visit to Cardiff (pictured), the “Silver Spirit” then called at Plymouth, and she arrived at Southampton on May 7.
At Cardiff, many of the passengers took pre-booked excursions in and around the city, while others used the shuttle buses from the port to the city centre.
Cardiff Council’s tourism team welcomed passengers as they disembarked, while a second team was in the city centre to help them make the most of their day.
