A new £17mn warehouse is to be built at Liverpool by the national logistics provider Jenkins which specialises in paper, pulp and other forest products.

Jenkins has been a tenant at the Port of Liverpool for 10 years and has now reached an agreement on managed services at Liverpool and London Medway, both part of Peel Ports.

Construction of the new Liverpool 300,000sq ft warehouse is expected to be completed next year, bringing the company’s space to 500,000sq ft.

Mark Whitworth, the Peel Ports chief executive, said: “We are seeing increased demand for imports of paper and pulp products, especially in the South East, where our new managed service with Jenkins will provide the capacity for market growth.”
