Gagarin Prospect and Cardissa

The first ship-to-ship bunkering of LNG fuel from the Royal Dutch Shell’s specialised LNG bunker vessel Cardissa took place at Rotterdam, the company said in October.

Managed by Shell Shipping & Maritime, the Cardissa can hold around 6,500cu m of LNG.

The ship that was refuelled was the world’s first LNG-powered Aframax tanker Gagarin Prospect, 114,000dwt, of the Russian company Sovcomflot, and which entered into a Shell multi-year time charter last July and a sister ship, the Samuel Prospect is due to be delivered for a Shell time charter next year.
