Vos Start

On Aug 1, what is described as a walk-to-work vessel arrived at Barrow to provide offshore logistics support during construction of the Walney Extension Offshore Wind Farm in the Irish Sea.

Named in Amsterdam on July 21, the VOS Start, 2,995gt, is Vroon’s first subsea support vessel and she arrived in Barrow just 11 days after the naming ceremony to start work on her first commercial contract.

As the nearest port to the Walney Extension, Barrow is home to four bases supporting developments in the Irish Sea and the port also supports a range of projects run by DONG Energy and MHI Vestas. (
