The semi-submersible heavy lift ship Xin Guang Hua, 84,239gt, of Cosco Shipping, China, arrived at Rotterdam on Apr 13 carrying the newly-built Western Isles FPSO.
The ship sailed into the Calandkanaal and the production platform was unloaded in two days and taken to Keppel Verolme in the Botlek.
The FPSO unit, which was completed by Cosco Qidong Offshore in February, is intended for Dana Petroleum’s Western Isles oil field development in the UK sector of the North Sea.
The Hong Kong-registered Xin Guang Hua was built by Guangzhou Shipyard International, China, last year and is currently the second-largest vessel in the market with a deadweight of 98,000 tons. She is 225m long and has a beam of 68m.
