Claymore Lo-LoAn old friend and colleague, Andrew McLeod, recently sent me photographs of CalMac’s fine new Ro/Ro vessel, the Loch Seaforth arriving in Greenock from the building yard in Flensburg.

Travelling with a car on these modern Ro/Ro ferries is simple and uncomplicated – just ‘drive on’ - ‘drive off’. Of course life wasn’t always as straight forward.

Andrew also sent me a couple of photos of his Hillman Imp being craned on to the 1955 Denny built Claymore at Oban – a service marketed as Lo/Lo.

This method of loading will remind many of our readers of some anxious minutes as they watched their ‘pride and joy’ being craned on to a ferry in these years past.
