Having recently delivered an innovative double-ended passenger vessel for the Netherlands, and a futuristic passenger shuttle boat to the city of Calais, Alumarine Shipyard has announced the start of construction of a 28m inland waterways boat to be built in aluminium.
The Alumarine Shipyard successfully bid for the contract issued by the French ‘Communauté de Commune des 2 Vallées’, for this vessel which will carry passengers on the Oise river from the Cité des Bateliers (Longueil-Annel) to Compiegne and Noyon.
Particularly innovative with a hybrid propulsion system (diesel and electric) she will very much fit into the new generation of environmentally friendly vessels. The flexibility doesn’t end there – the passenger deck is convertible into restaurant or reception room mode allowing the craft to carry 102 passengers in transport mode or 60 in restaurant mode. This new generation craft is for towns a very modern and ecological way to develop transport and tourism on their waterways. The vessel is expected to enter service in 2015.
