The delivery of Irish Ferries’ new €144 million cruise ferry W.B. Yeats from German shipbuilder Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG) has been further delayed until September, affecting the summer holiday plans of thousands of Irish holidaymakers.
The new ferry was to have entered service in July between Dublin and Cherbourg. Because of the uncertainty caused by the additional delay, Irish Ferries had no option but to cancel all the planned sailings to France by the new ship this summer.
FSG confirmed that the delay is due to the late arrival of key interior components for the vessel’s public areas and on the electrical system installation in the hull and deckhouse.
