Leixoes Cruise Terminal

With the growth of the cruise industry, many ports worldwide have been active in developing or improving their port facilities.

Major destinations may have been in the forefront of this activity, however, smaller destinations have not been left behind. One such example has been the Portuguese port of Leixoes, the gateway of Porto.

Approaching Leixoes from the sea, a cruise passenger can’t avoid being impressed by the modernistic Cruise Terminal that comes into view as the vessel moves toward it’s berth. Designed by architect Luis Pedro Silva, his award winning design, viewed from afar, is already an undeniable icon of Matosinhos and Porto’s waterfront architectural landscape.

The Terminal’s pier is able to accommodate cruise ships up to 320m in length and a draft of 10m, a nautical recreational port for 170 boats, a main building with approximately 15,000 square metres of floor space.
