Spirit of Tasmania II

The TT-Line has ordered two new ferries for its Bass Strait service between Melbourne and Devonport on Tasmania’s north coast.

They will replace the Spirit of Tasmania I and Spirit of Tasmania II when they enter service in 2021.

The line has signed a Letter of Intent for the ferries with the German shipbuilders Flensburger Schiffbau-Ges and the two companies will now have talks on their design and the final contract.

Mike Granger, the TT-Line chairman, said: “The line short-listed a number of international shipyards to build the new vessels and we expect to place an order in the first half of this year.”
