Yangshan Deepwater Port

Trial operations have begun at the world’s biggest automated container terminal at Shanghai, China.

The terminal at the Yangshan Deepwater Port in Hangzhou Bay, south of Shanghai, is the fourth stage of the port development project and occupies an area of 2.23mn sq m and a coastline area of 2,350m.

Once fully operational, the port will be able to handle 4mn teu a year and the aim is for the eventual capacity to be 6mn teu a year.
