On Nov 12 last year, the bulk carrier Richard Oldendorff, 118,532dwt arrived at the Go Gia buoys in South Vietnam with the largest ever bulk cargo to be discharged in Vietnam.
The ship berthed at the Lena transhipment platform with a cargo of about 115,000 tonnes. It unloaded a part-cargo of 74,634 tonnes of coal into lighters for South Vietnam clients.
The Richard Oldendorff then sailed to the port of Campha in North Vietnam to discharge the remaining 40,000 tonnes on board.
The Vietnam transhipment operation is an alliance between the commodity trader Welhunt, the ocean transportation company Oldendorff Carriers GmbH, and the Vietnam domestic waterway transportation services company Haivan Shipping Services Corporation.
