LNG Ice Breaker (DSME)

A South Korean company has received a contract to build 15 ice-breaking LNG carriers for Russia, the president of South Korea Moon Jae-in told delegates at the Eastern Economic Forum held in Vladivostok on Sept 7.

The tankers are to transport liquified natural gas from the Yamal LNG project in Siberia. The president did not name the shipyard involved.

South Korean shipbuilders have signed several deals with Russia’s new Far East shipbuilding company, Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex, in Bolshoi Kamen.
