China's Ministry of Transport has fined 14 international container shipping lines because they either failed to report freight tariffs to the Ministry or were inconsistent with the reported ones.

The Ministry said the companies have been fined around $350,000. The carriers include Hamburg Süd, Wan Hai Lines, Wan Hai Lines (Singapore), Evergreen, CMA CGM, Gold Star Line, Heung-A Shipping and Korea Marine Transport (KMTC) as well as six undisclosed companies.

The Ministry said its measures come in a bid to crack down on a low-price competition and it will further strengthen supervision of the maritime market and increase tariff record inspections.
