Fincantieri Monfalcone yards

The Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri and the China State Shipbuilding (CSSC) have formed a joint venture to design and sell cruise ships exclusively intended and specifically designed for the Chinese and Asian market.

The ships will be built at the SWS facility, one of the CSSC’s shipyards, using technology licensed to the joint venture by Fincantieri.

The Italian shipbuilders will also offer specialised consultancy services and supply certain key components of the ships.

Announcing details of the agreement in July, Fincantieri chief executive Giuseppe Bono said: “This places us at the centre of a project without equal in the world, supported directly by the Chinese Government in the form of a very ambitious project.”
