NYK Blue JayThe container ship NYK Blue Jay began her maiden voyage on the NYK Line service between Asia and Europe in March.

The 14,000 teu ship was built at the Kure shipyard of the Japan Marine United Corporation (JMU) and is the first of 10 sister ships to be time-chartered by the NYK Line, of Tokyo, for this service.

The NYK Blue Jay has improved cargoloading efficiency resulting from reducing the engine-room space.

NYK, the Monohakobi Technology Institute, and the JMU are studying 14,000 teu container ships and during the building of the ship, NYK provided technological advice to the JMU.
