The Malaysia container terminal Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) Sdn Bhd is to spend US$118.4mn, on modernisation projects this year. It will include purchasing new cranes, including rubber-tyred gantry cranes.
The port aims to be able to handle 15mn teus in 2018. By the end of last year, the port was on course to handle 9.2mn teus. The terminal is currently equipped with 57 Super Post Panamax cranes.
Located in south-western Johor, PTP, a subsidiary of the MMC Corporation, is part of the Global Terminal Network of APM Terminals, of the Netherlands.
