AS A RESULT OF MY LETTER being published in the April 2011 issue of Sea Breezes, Captain Clive Spencer has been in touch regarding the running of the 3 cylinder Doxford on 2 units.
He kindly sent me the photograph below which shows four of the engineers aboard the Carronpark following the big breakdown in 1960.
As you can see there are only four men in the photo and by golly, do they look knackered after three days of continuous hard work.
The oily boiler suits would drive anyone thinking of a sea career to definitely forget engineering!
