WITH REFERENCE TO THE DECEMBER 2010 ISSUE of Sea Breezes, I noticed the picture on page 15 of the Caledon (Dundee) built Viera y Clavijo, the sister ship to La Palma.
The Viera y Clavijo was Caledon Ship No 224 with an installed steam triple expansion main engine No 424 from the shipyard’s own foundry, Lilybank Foundry. One of the unnamed three smaller ships in the article, on the six ship order was the Caledon ship No 225, Gomera Hiero with triple expansion main engine No 425, also from Caledon’s Lilybank Foundry.
