THE ONLY INFORMATION I HAVE CONCERNING THE ATTACHED PHOTO IS, “The ss John L Sullivan as the YAG 37 with propulsion by deck mounted aircraft engines – England”.
A Liberty ship propelled by aircraft engines – fascinating! Did she cross the Atlantic with this propulsion? In the photo the engines appear to be in use and the vessel making way. I know swamp boats use aircraft-type propellers but a cargo vessel?
Maybe an enlightened reader could supply me with further information on moving a ship of this size through the water with this novel mode of propulsion.
