THIS MORNING A FRIEND OF MINE AT WORK, who deals in picture post cards, called and said come by at lunch as he had some photos I might be interested in purchasing.
I was indeed as he had five photos of four ships within the Panama Canal taken from on board the USS Salt Lake City. Three of the photos were of warships that were easily identified, but two were of the passenger ship Reina Del Pacifico.
I had never heard of the Reina Del Pacifico and I thus planned on consulting my copy of What Ship Is That (1944) when I got home that night. On arriving home I found my latest issue of Sea Breezes (September issue) in the mailbox. This I sat down to read before researching the who and what of my photo of the Reina Del Pacifico. Imagine my surprise to find an article on the Reina Del Pacifico on pages 22-23. I wonder what the odds are of something like this happening. I have attached the photos.
