I wonder if any of my fellow readers can enlighten me.
I am a retired Master Mariner and I am somewhat disabled. I live about five miles north of the Royal Sovereign light tower. As a cadet and third mate, I went up and down the channel some dozens of times.
In my seagoing days, there was no routing and we went up and down quite close to the Royal Sovereign, then a light vessel. Until earlier this year, I could sit up in bed having my first cup of coffee and watch big tankers and container ships going down the channel, but recently there has been a change and I very seldom see anything except small fishing boats and pleasure yachts.
Has there been some change in the routing to keep the traffic further out? I am very curious. Thank you in advance for any information.
