I am looking for photos of deck detail on the Falls of Clyde, pre 1898, before she was sold to Matson and re-rigged as a barque.
These could be in the form of photos of the crew / Master and family / owners etc, taken on board, or photos taken on any of the Falls Line ships: All built by Russell & Co Port Glasgow, Scotland: 4 masted ships - Falls of Clyde – 1878, Falls of Bruar – 1879, Falls of Afton – 1882, Falls of Dee – 1882, Falls of Foyers – 1883, Falls of Earn – 1884. 4 master barques – Falls of Garry – 1886, Falls of Halladale – 1886, Falls of Ettrick – 1894. I have full ship photos of all these vessels, so plenty of photos were taken of them, but I am having problems finding on-ship photos.
I would be most grateful for anything that any readers may have or suggestions as to where to look. I am building a series of models of the Falls of Clyde, the first a hull half model, the second a centre section of the hull to show the iron construction, details here; www.wworkshop.net/Falls_ of_Clyde/Menu.html.
The final model is of her as originally built, as a fully rigged waterline model. The complete collection will eventually be donated to the Clyde Maritime Trust, who are also helping with the research, for display on the Glenlee, or Falls of Clyde, if we can get her back and restored from Honolulu.
