It was a great honour to join the Sea Breezes crew. Although I have now lived directly beside the Irish Sea for 27 years in the Isle of Man, I was born inLaconia, New Hampshire, USA in 1952 and grew up on the shore of Lake Winnipesaukee where I taught myself to sail and began a lifelong love affair with all things nautical.
My Dad had been a Machinist Mate Chief Petty Officer in WWII from Mine Sweepers off Casablanca to USS Pittsburg (CA-72) off Japan, so for me after NROTC at Purdue University it was off to the Grey Funnel Line, as an officer in the US Navy Submarine Service.
Although much of what I do now relates to superyachts – somehow I don’t like the term “megayacht” – although Inever had the privilege of serving in the Merchant Marine (USA parlance), I am a life member of the British Merchant Navy Association and fascinated by the business of the sea.
I look forward to sharing with you what I find of interest, if not always earth shattering importance, from the Northwest Passage to Columbia and Attu Island to St Johns Newfoundland including the Great Lakes.
